Course materials are ACT’s copyright, they have been approved by special licence from IOSH - this allows ACT not to use the standard IOSH course materials and to use its own instead.
An IOSH ‘Managing safely’ certificate is awarded to all those who successfully complete both assessments.
Understanding of the course material is evaluated by means of a multiple choice assessment and practical assessment to be carried out at your own workplace.
Classroom based taught courses
The IOSH Managing Safely classroom course is delivered over four days and provides an opportunity to discuss the topics with other students and the tutor and would suit those that enjoy interaction in a classroom environment. In particular, it has a number of features that may be helpful to those students who have not done formal study and assessments for some time.
ACT strives to involve students actively during training. This is achieved through a workshop approach. Depending on needs, this will usually involve syndicate exercises and group discussion. The objective is always to underpin knowledge in a practical way to enable students to apply their newly acquired understanding to the work place.
Classroom based taught courses are available from one of our venues in the UK or they can be organised as an in-house course in your premises if you have a number of students who need this qualification.

Elearning is a great method of learning for those without the time or availability to attend a taught course. You can start an elearning course at any time and anywhere in the world. It is an interesting and enjoyable way to learn and you can gain support from a tutor while working at your own pace.
The course is available online and involves a minimum of 24 hours study, which can be done in a flexible way to suit your availability to study during the course. Both end assessments can conveniently be completed at your workplace within a 6 month period.
Blended learning provides the flexibility of elearning with the interaction and guidance provided by a classroom based taught course. This approach would particularly suit those that want to reduce the amount of time away from work attending a classroom course but retain important face-to-face contact with a tutor.
The course involves two x one day (2 x 1) study periods and the remainder of the study time is done online. This combines full access to our IOSH e-learning course as well as tuition with a tutor to focus on syllabus areas where students often experience some difficulty as well as support in readiness for the end assessments.
A formal set-up of the software and learning plan is provided to complete your study online during the two study periods.
