How Managers And Supervisors Can Benefit From IOSH Managing Safely E-Learning

Online Training By Rhiannon Davies

Proper management of workplace health and safety can protect an organisation from a range of financial and legal issues, as well as protecting their workers and boosting morale. The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) have created a leading training scheme to introduce managers and supervisors in any kind of sector to the key aspects of good health and safety practice, and their responsibilities to their workers.

Applicable across all sectors and industries, IOSH Managing Safely has been specially designed to reflect the modern workplace and address everything needed for managers to develop an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities.

ACT offers a highly popular e-learning option, which contains all the same information as the classroom-based course with the added benefit of being able to complete the course in your own time. Each e-learning student licence lasts for six months after purchase, and the course typically takes around 22 hours to complete, so you have plenty of time to complete the course at your own pace.

IOSH Managing Safely e-learning is split in to seven modules covering a different topic, each with its own set of learning outcomes and resources. Each module also includes a range of videos, case studies, and interactive exercises to test your understanding as you go along.

  • Module 1 – Introducing Managing Safely
  • Module 2 – Assessing risks
  • Module 3 – Controlling risks
  • Module 4 – Understanding responsibilities
  • Module 5 – Understanding hazards
  • Module 6 – Investigating incidents
  • Module 7 – Measuring performance

Once you’ve completed all the modules, you’ll reach the assessment. The assessment for this course is split in to two parts – a multiple choice assessment to test what you know, and a practical workplace risk assessment to test what you can do.

The multiple-choice assessment is completed fully online, whenever you feel ready to take it. The workplace risk assessment can be carried out on your own workplace and then uploaded to the e-learning platform to be marked. Once you’ve successfully passed, you’ll receive a certificate as proof of your new qualification.

If you choose to study with ACT, you’ll be benefiting from over 28 years’ worth of experience in providing IOSH training.
