Course FAQs
IOSH qualifications are ideal for any organisation who hasn’t got a clue where to start when it comes to health and safety, or any organisation looking to provide training and essential skills to their employees. Whether a new start-up, a restaurant, an office or a multinational, there’s something for anyone looking to make improvements when it comes to health and safety.
Once you have your first IOSH qualification you can now work safely in your environment as well as be able to help others with working safely too. As you move through the levels you will be able to manage the health and safety of an organisation at Director level.
You can also join IOSH as a member after completing a course, which can be done at any stage of your career in occupational health and safety, and membership levels are based on experience, competency, qualifications and a continued professional development profile. As a member you can add Tech IOSH, Grad IOSH, CM IOSH and CFIOSH to your name.
The three IOSH courses we offer vary in length, from one day for the Working Safely and Safety for Executives and Directors up to three days for the Managing Safely. Each day constitutes roughly six hours of learning which is reflected in the e-learning version of the courses. With Classroom or Virtual you will study for one or three days consecutively, whereas the e-learning allows you to study over up to a six-month period, however we suggest a shorter timeframe to aid with learning.
The courses are taught in a way that builds up your knowledge of health and health along the way, with practical knowledge checks and exercises to help your understanding, by the time the assessment comes round you will be confident that you will be able to succeed. The multiple-choice nature of the assessments allows you to apply your understanding without having to memorise all the facts and figure and on the Managing Safely, a workplace risk assessment further demonstrates your understudying of hazards and controls.
