The course is split into 7 modules which are taught over 3 days:

• Module 2 – Assessing risks
• Module 3 – Controlling risks
• Module 4 – Understanding your responsibilities
• Module 5 – Understanding hazards
• Module 6 – Investigating incidents
• Module 7 – Measuring performance

IOSH Approved Managing Safely – Learning Objectives

• Understand why health and safety is important
• Effectively assess, reduce and control risk in the workplace
• Identify hazards and risks, their potential impact and how to manage them
• Describe the principles that underpin good health and safety performance
• Understand the characteristics of an effective health and safety management system

There are two assessments for this qualification:

1. Multiple choice question paper – This is completed written on the classroom course and online via e-learning.
2. Risk assessment project – Completed using IOSH proforma template.

An IOSH Approved Managing Safely certificate is awarded to all those who successfully complete both assessments.

Duration

The time it will take to complete this e-learning is dependent on the amount of time that you can dedicate to your study. It typically takes around 22 hours of study to complete, and as such is valid for 22 hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
