What is an NVQ?
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a qualification that is completed while you are at work. While studying an NVQ you will create a portfolio of evidence of your knowledge and skills that applies to the NVQ that you are taking. The NVQ’s that we offer at ACT are the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Practice which is equivalent to an A-Level, and the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice.
It is not possible to fail an NVQ because there are no exams, if you don’t pass a module, you simply work on your portfolio and resubmit it. This is one of the key things about NVQ’s that makes them so popular, not everyone gets on well with exams, and you can take your time to work through the qualification at your own pace, and around your other commitments.
So how does it all work?
Level 3:
The level 3 certificate qualification is a work-based qualification that is equivalent to the NEBOSH General Certificate.
Level 5:
The level 5 diploma qualification is a work-based qualification that is equivalent to the NEBOSH Diploma.
