This year’s Health & Safety Event is almost upon us, taking place at the Birmingham NEC between April 8th and 10th, with the focus – as ever – on improving occupational health and safety standards.

Anyone working as a health and safety professional will be sure to find the exhibition useful, with various seminars, practical workshops and exhibitors all under one roof, helping you to enhance your expertise and knowledge, stay up to date with all regulatory changes and best practices, and network with industry professionals.

Exhibitors at this year’s event include Barbour, the Health and Safety Executive, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, NEBOSH, 3M, Arco and many, many more.

ACT will also be exhibiting and you’ll be able to find us at Stand 3/G34, where we’ll be ready to chat to you about how we can help you achieve your career development goals.

You can also drop your business card into our jar for the chance to win over £500 worth of NEBOSH wellbeing e-learning courses. We’ll announce the winner on our LinkedIn page once the exhibition is over, so make sure you connect with us to stay in the loop.

As for the conference, you can expect to hear from experts on a range of different topics to help you create a safe and compliant working environment, while gaining all the tools and knowledge you need to protect both you and your members of staff from danger.

There’s also a Lone Worker Live seminar planned for the exposition, with specialists taking to the stage to share their knowledge on best practice to help you manage the security, safety and wellbeing of lone and remote workers.

Here, different bite-size interactive sessions will be put on to cover topics such as how to embed lone working policies, procedures and controls effectively, the ethical and legal implications of monitoring lone workers, managing stress and avoiding burnout when working from home, and translating legal compliance into practical safety solutions.

The show is free to attend and will give you access to all the other co-located exhibitions as well, including The Fire Safety Event, The Workplace Event, Professional Security Officer Live, the National Cyber Security Show and The Security Event.

While the seminars and workshops are free to attend, note that you might have to register or book for some of the workshops as spaces are limited in some circumstances. It’s advisable to double check that the workshops you’re interested in attending don’t require additional registration and to book ahead of time if they do so as to avoid disappointment.

Further learning opportunities

If you’d like to take your health and safety learning to the next level after the exhibition, you might find the various health and safety courses we have on offer of particular benefit.

The NEBOSH Award in Health and Safety at Work course, for example, will provide you with a valuable overview of the principles of health and safety, helping you to reduce incident and injury rates, improve health and safety awareness among members of staff and improve both employee engagement and safety culture across the board.

You will also enjoy higher levels of compliance thanks to improved organisational safety measures, while protecting your business from the reputational damage that can arise through health and safety failures.

If you’d like to build your health and safety knowledge further, our NEBOSH General Certificate course is a great place to start. It’s designed for anyone looking to develop practical skills and gain a respected qualification in workplace safety. To find out more, get in touch with the ACT team today.
