Course Outline

About the course:

Manual Handling training is ideal for individuals and employees that are required to handle any given load as part of their job role, whether frequently or infrequently. The impact of harm caused by poor manual handling can be long lasting, in some cases debilitating, and manual handling injuries can increase the likelihood of suffering further manual handling injuries. Training yourself or your staff on correct lifting technique, and the principles of good manual handling can be a great way to address manual handling risks, and reduce time off work due to injury.

Manual handling information is also useful to have for day-to-day life as well as in the workplace. Being more conscientious of how you lift when performing tasks outside of work, can also reduce risk of injury.

Designed for:

This course has been designed for any individual or employee who is involved in the moving of objects in the workplace. It provides images, facts and figures to deliver memorable content that is suitable for individuals that need an awareness of manual handling. This may include managers, supervisors, delivery personnel, porters, technicians and any general worker.

Compared to face-to-face training, online manual handling training is a cost-effective and convenient way to train multiple members of staff on the same subject.

Course Content:

The course is split into small digestible parts with interaction and multimedia content. The course covers:

  • Impact of manual handling in the workplace and potential harm caused by incorrect lifting
  • Principles of the manual handling risk assessment
  • Correct lifting technique advocated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

Upon completion of all of the learning materials users are issued with a short multiple choice assessment to assess understanding of the course content.

There is one free re-sit available if required.

Once you have successfully completed the assessment, a digital certificate is issued from iAS which can be downloaded, saved and printed off.
