Supported by ECITB member organisations and industry contractors, including the Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA), this scheme ensures a high standard of safety competence within the engineering construction industry.

ACT has been providing ECITB approved training for a number of years, including:

Who is ECITB?

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is the employer-led skills body for the Engineering Construction Industry in Great Britain. They invest around £28 million every year to enhance skills across the engineering construction industry, support growth through workforce training, and tackle labour shortages and skills gaps.

ECITB works with employers and training providers to give the engineering construction industry workforce the skills it needs to meet the challenges of the future.

The ECITB is an arm’s length body of the UK Government and reports to the Department of Education. Along with the education sector, government and employers, the ECITB work to ensure the UK has workers with the skills to meet the needs of the engineering construction industry. They design and award a wide range of qualifications, covering craft, technical and managerial disciplines.

What is the aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme?

The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a foundation knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others.

How has ECITB training benefitted others?

At ACT, we strive to provide the best possible experience for our clients and our support continues long after the classroom. We caught up with a few recent ECITB Training clients to find out how the scheme has benefitted their tea and helped to ensure they’re keeping themselves and their colleagues safe on site.

How has the ECITB Safety Passport training impacted your team’s safety awareness and site performance?

The ECITB Passport to Safety training has been very beneficial. It’s a crucial certificate to hold for where myself and my colleagues do contract work, but because the training covers a broad range of industries, it allows us to learn about other safety aspects of the workplace.
For example, I may contract in the “manufacturing” industry, but learning about the “construction” industry, or safety around machinery I might see but not actually use, is very useful.
– Richard Bradley, Hemmersbach UK Ltd

“ECITB Safety passport qualification is vital to our Engineers as they maintain our equipment on customer sites all over the country and without this qualification many customers would not permit our Engineers to enter the site.   Apart from being essential to gain access to customer sites the continuous training keeps our Engineers focussed and aware of  the health and safety issues whilst working under pressure to keep plants up and running, which is so important for them,  and our customers safety      To Eurotherm this  training is essential.” – Dianne, Eurotherm.

“The training offers better vision to trainees on what can be found in the workplace with everyday activities and the trainers experience in a variety of topics and how to deal with them.” – Agnieszka Kader, Kingfisher Industrial

Would you recommend the ECITB Safety Passport to other companies?

“Yes! It’s important to understand H&S and how it save lives.” – Richard Bradley, Hemmersbach UK Ltd

“I would recommend the training to other Companies so that their employees remain focussed and aware of possible health and safety issues, which can be overlooked if under pressure to complete work on site. The refresher courses ensure that Health and Safety knowledge is frequently updated and refreshed.” – Dianne, Eurotherm

“Highly recommend it! You provide our lads with a high standard and comprehensive course; your trainers are very experienced and can answer all questions.” – Agnieszka Kader, Kingfisher Industrial
