The Client

Worcester Carsales is a motor trade sales company founded in 1953 by Mr Derrick Grieveson, and has been serving local motorists ever since.

They now run twelve franchised dealerships across Worcestershire, the Black Country, and the West Midlands. During its 70 years of trading, it has remained a family-run business – to date, three of Mr Grieveson’s grandchildren work within the group.

The Brief

Andy Cooper, the Group Retail Operator, approached ACT with a brief of wanting to provide all of Worcester Carsales’ Service and Aftersales Managers with a good all-round knowledge of health and safety. The course itself was to be taught face-to-face at the company’s training facility in Lye. Andy had researched awarding bodies beforehand and found that IOSH most suited their needs as a business.

The Solution

After chatting with Andy about what they were looking to achieve – a better understanding of health and safety for around 12-15 delegates, run over consecutive days – the IOSH Managing Safely course was decided to be the perfect fit for Worcester Carsales.

What is IOSH Managing Safely?

Managing Safely is an internationally recognised market-leading health and safety course designed to be applicable for anyone with responsibilities for health and safety, no matter their sector or industry. The course explores why good health and safety practices are essential for success, and provides tools to make it an integral part of day-to-day business.

The course is assessed using a multiple-choice exam, followed by a practical work-place based risk assessment, to help the learner apply what they’ve learned throughout their studies to their own place of work.

The Result

By the end of the three-day course, every one of the 12 delegates passed their multiple choice and risk assessments, and achieved their IOSH Managing Safely qualification.ACT received a range of great feedback from everyone who attended, and our tutor Kieran received an outstanding five out of five for knowledge, ability to help learn, and attitude from everyone present.

Worcester Carsales achieved their goal of training their managers to have a better overall understanding of how to keep safe in the workplace, and are now considering their next steps in health and safety training.
